Jean Lowe

Last Saturday was very eventful, starting with the free art: cart, a graduation ceremony at SDSU, and then a blow-out sale at Quint Contemporary.

I had been trying to get over to La Jolla to see Jean Lowe - Hey Sexy! and in all honesty I'm glad my experience was at this event. The work can easily be appreciated without the sale, but having people shopping, and eating, a barbershop quartet, and the raffles all going on, was great because it became an experience, and not just standing in a stark white gallery, silence, staring at art.

I could still appreciate the commentary on today's consumer society, which I usually find depressing. This work can make me smile, while shaking my head, about it all.

I could not resist using my 9.99% off coupon and bought a YOU'RE PERFECT cup.

Thank you Jean Lowe, for making me think, making me smile, and creating some art I can afford to buy.

to really have

While riding my bike today I saw this

And thought, those that have, really have.

Then I wondered, maybe living on the edge can be a better life. There are many opportunities to be creative, probably more opportunities than if I was one of those who have, really have. That car would not have gotten me to that view.

99% invisible

Today I was involved in an activity which I had not done in a very long time, wallpaper removal. The beauty of removing wallpaper is that you can podcast while you work.

Through Stitcher Radio I found a wonder informative podcast.

99% Invisible
I listened to as many as Stitcher had, then came home, found the blog and listen to some more. I have not been this excited about a blog or podcast in a very long time. What a wonder find. Thank you Stitcher (for having it), and a very very big big thanks to Roman Mars.

It is really very nice of this organization post this, and that they had given me the opportunity to show this series.

2nd day

Three days off the $ job, and the goal was to ride each day.

I am SO not used to riding, and I have missed it. There are some more adjustments to be made before tomorrows ride, saddle and cleats.

Tomorrow should be good!

exit

I Googled my name and of course my website came up and other art related things.

And then I found this really interesting link.

An image of mine was used to explain something. Exit, on Flickr

Unbelievable the amount of information they got from this image. Taken with the only camera I now use, and manipulated in Photoshop.

The information is:

good mail: today

I will participate in the Sketchbook Project 2013. This is a project with Art House Co-op.

Now that I have the actual sketchbook in hand, ideas are a flowing. The one decision I do need to make will be to work with yaya or yaya...ya

This is exciting, and I must not procrastinate, the postmark deadline is Jan 15, 2013.
